Adaptive Information Security

The protection of information assets from harm is a critical goal of information security. In software systems with highly dynamic social and technological contexts, such as cloud applications and services, ensuring information security poses several new challenges.

Adaptive Security and Privacy

The Adaptive Security and Privacy (ASAP) research programme aims to radically re-conceptualise software engineering for ubiquitous computing in ways that are cognisant of the changing needs of users, of the changing threats to user assets, and of the changing relationships...

Ambiguity recognition and nocuous ambiguity

This research theme investigates how humans interpret ambiguous text, and how ambiguity can be either recognised or resolved by computers.

Argent

Horizon 2020 Project ID: 608163 Funded under the Marie Curie FP7-PEOPLE scheme as a MC-ITN - Networks for Initial Training (ITN).

Argumentation, Reasoning and Digital Thinking Tools

In the age of Generative AI, social media and polarisation, for societies to function well, citizen need to be supported with understanding, evaluating and constructively discussing multiple often contradictory points of view.

Artificial Intelligence, Melody, and Education

Developing MOTIVE, a constraint-based tool for melody analysis and generation that supports beginners in exploring composition through a computational model of melodic perception.

Aspect-Oriented Music Representation

Applying aspect-oriented programming and multi-dimensional separation of concerns to music representation, composition and analysis, with associated publications, code and tutorials.

Astrochemistry

Astrochemistry is the study of molecules in space, how they form, where they form, and what role they play in shaping the formation and evolution of astrophysical systems, particularly in star and planet formation

Bcause

bcause is an ambitious research project funded by the Office of Naval Research of the US which aims at devising the next generation of technological solutions for discussion-enhanced collective intelligence and online deliberation.

Computational Modelling of Tonality Perception

Developing and testing computational models of tonal harmony to explain listeners’ expectations and perceptions of musical resolution through psychoacoustic and cognitive principles.

Computational Musicology

This theme investigates musicological questions, in an empirical way, through the use both of algorithms and machine learning (in particular generative AI).
